I can’t believe your 500 Days of Summer reference wasn’t the scene where Joseph Gordon Levitt’s sister tells him “Just because she likes the same bizzaro crap you do doesn't mean she's your soul mate.”
I dated a million years ago, so this might be outdated or irrelevant, but I always found matching *enthusiasm* in taste to be key. Same values are the move tho, so keep bringing up 9/11 and you will find her ❤️
1- I just started watching The Leftovers for the first time, currently on season 2 and I can't wait for my life to be changed.
2- I broke up with my first boyfriend because I overheard him listening to Vengaboys during our *first* phone call – yeah not proud of that.
3- Conversely, I met a guy in my early 20s whose favorite movie was also Before Sunrise. I lost my mind and I thought we were soul mates... turned out to be a psycho. I'm with Randa on this one.
I remember thinking someone talking about D&D on our first date was a red flag - now I am playing D&D and we've been together for over a year. I try to be curious and less judgmental, sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Like if he had listed it as an interest in his dating profile I maybe would have swiped left? This was a fun convo to read and I like the world Randa paints but I'm not sure I could live it.
One problem with putting movies or music in your dating profile is that you will end up having to talk about the same movie or album 1000 times, which is boring. When I was on the dating apps I would try to update my profile every once in a while and put something that I *recently* enjoyed, to at least make it less boring. I think a good dating profile is one that includes fundamental things about yourself (like The Leftovers, whatever the hell that is), but also injects some amount of randomness to make things more interesting and dynamic.

LOL such a good post. 3 things:
