32W Type A Softie Seeks Swaggy Sweetie Pie
+ why you should send your hinge match a personality quiz
HK: Randa where do you stand on enneagrams as far as dating goes?
RS: personally i love having dates take quizzes. i just had a date take a personality test before we met up. not as like a tyrannical compatibility thing just because i think it’s fun.
HK: ok you mentioned this to me earlier via text and I had a question about this. Are you like proctoring their test in front of you at Bar Part Time?
RS: no no i had a hinge date scheduled (thanks to your genius hinge template - if anyone wants it please email us) and then before the date i sent him a sinister partiful link for a party called Love Science – a party where you take a personality test before, and you only get invited if they find you a match. i asked him to take the test with the idea that it would b hilarious to both go. unfortunately we were too late, but as soon as i arrived to the date we compared results to the test. here are some example questions:
plz cast your vote… i’m tryna see something…
HK: ok that actually does sound kind of nice. Perhaps share and tell should be part of most hinge dates. Speaking of, why don’t you share a little bit about today’s hot single!
RS: today’s hot single left the 4HL to follow her 3L dreams (living, laughing, and loving). this Type A Sweetie is no simpleton but she might ask about your favorite simple carbohydrate…
HK : If you think you might be Type H(er boyfriend), reply to this email or send a note to sup@goodhang.org
what’s your life philosophy?
Life isn’t that serious! With the pandemic (and therapy), I’ve realized that at the end of the day what matters is the people you surround yourself with and enjoying what you do with your time. Which is how I ended up transitioning from corporate girly to ‘girly attempting comedy writing’. Am I basically saying that my motto is live, laugh, love? Yes. But who of us doesn’t want to do those 3 things?
what have you been talking about lately?
The topic of the moment can be a million things due to my general love of ~culture~. This week has been all about Single’s Inferno S3, the Korean dating show on Netflix. I am not Korean and I don’t love dating shows…yet I got hooked so intensely that I found myself watching fan edits on TikTok at 1am (horrifying). I’m fascinated by the expectations and nuances of dating in other cultures. Plus it’s fun to love/hate characters with your friends (that’s community building!!). If I had a lower back tattoo, it’d be ✨hyeseonhive4life✨.
what is your favorite hangout spot in your city, and why?
At the end of the day, I’m horned up for a communal outdoor space. I loooove a good New York park. Prospect Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, McCarren Park - you name it..
Things I like doing at parks:
Long post edible walk and talk with a friend (ideally sharing secrets)
Stare at a tree and ignoring my inbox
Picnic while a guy precariously balancing a toilet on his head bikes by
Parks are beautiful lil escape from the Rat Race (2001 film) of city living.
what makes you a good hang?
I’m super transparent with a genuine curiosity to get to know people and how their brains work. That’s a nice way of saying I love asking questions (both stupid + smart-ish Qs) and I will share my own deepest darkest secrets almost immediately. Example Q? F/M/K: Noodles, Bread, Rice.
I’m very organized!! I tend to be the one that makes the hang happen. That’s right, I’m gonna send a Google cal invite, send a text to confirm everyone’s ETA, pay for the bill and send the Venmo request later, etc. I think the type A friend is a role that is often not appreciated enough.
I think I’m funny? Am I allowed to say that? My therapist would tell me I should say what I want…I’m working on it.
who are you looking for?
An emotionally available guy who can make running errands at CVS fun, is self-aware and introspective, and has interests outside of career. Your girl loves a goofy sweetie who laughs a lot, communicates directly, and consistently shows up.
