morning harry! i’ve been turning around what you might consider a “dangerous idea” in my mind over the past few months. what if you and i each invited 10 of our hinge matches to join a softball team with us? we would then be in an MDRS with them for the next 7 weeks, playing against other teams, bonding over our mutual wins and losses… i think at least one couple would result from it. thoughts?

I’m reminded of my college frat days, and the chaotic invention of the Sorority Crush Party. A quick aside, greek life has long been on the bleeding edge of party innovation, it’s a bit of a dirty little secret since both morally and aesthetically much of greek life is unbecoming, but some of the most genius party ideas I’ve heard of started in a frat groupme. 

The crush party is a party where a sorority blindly invites a certain number of “crushes” to an invite only party. You don’t know who invited you but you know you’ve got an invite. I went to a real college with good American values (michigan) but I used to live with a bunch of people who happened to go to a totally lawless and fucked up evil school (Northwestern) and they were always telling me how central crush parties were to the school’s sexual nexus. I obviously think northwestern should be banned and with it any crush parties. So I’m gonna have to say I am OUT on the softball party.

I have so much to say about today’s hot single. He is one of my best friends in the world. This Ganjapreneur left college early to start a Bay Area weed empire…but he’s so much more than a weed guy. Sure he smokes loud, but that's only a small part of who he is. We’ve maintained a beautiful friendship and I haven’t smoked weed since Obama’s first term

what’s your claim to fame?

As my tagline states, I am in fact a ganjaprenuer, a very silly term for an entrepreneur in the ganja business. When I was 21, I left college and decided to get into the soon-to-be-legal pot industry. I was not super happy with being in college so I decided to do something totally different. I moved north from San Francisco to a little town named Sebastopol in wine/weed country and co-founded a dispensary company. While it seemed a bit nuts to some friends and family members at the time, years later, it’s actually grown into a real company with a reputation for having really good weed. While my business is a big part of my life, I always feel a little embarrassed to be the “weed guy” amongst my friends as I actually have a lot of other interests and don’t really have a stoner-guy vibe.

what have you been talking about lately?

I have been talking a lot about the DJ comeback that I am going to make in 2024. When I was younger, I used to DJ all the time and had an absolute blast doing it. From school dances to house parties to bar mitzvahs, I loved playing the right song at the right moment to make the dance floor pop off.  After almost a decade-long hiatus, I got some really basic equipment from my family as a holiday gift and am really stoked that DJ Efly is back in action. 

what is your favorite hangout spot in your city, and why?

Tank Hill! I’ve loved hanging on Tank Hill since I first visited as a teenager looking for good places to kick it with my friends while growing up in San Francisco. One of my favorite things about living in the city is visiting the various hilltops with insanely good views. Of all the hill options, Tank Hill is the best. Not only is the view extremely on point, nobody is ever there so you usually have the whole place to yourself, unlike other spots like Twin Peaks that are overrun with tourists. For all the grief San Francisco gets these days, it’s a beautiful city and Tank Hill is the perfect spot to soak it all in.

what makes you a good hang?

I would say I’m a good hang because of how much I enjoy sharing cool experiences. I’m always on the lookout for a weird jazz night, a new restaurant, or any of the other strange events the Bay Area has to offer. I also have a really cute dog who is a bonus to hanging out with me. 

who are you looking for?

Ideally someone who’s part city and part country-hippie vibe. Someone who can enjoy late nights at warehouse parties in the city but also fantasizes about owning a farm in the country one day.
